Our first speaker, Professor Jane Bertrand will draw on findings from the Canadian Early Years Study Thriving Kids Thriving Society to argue the role of quality early childhood education and care in ensuring economic sustainability and a socially inclusive society. Jane Bertrand is the Program Director at the Margaret and Wallace McCain Family Foundation. The Foundation’s focus is on early childhood practices, policies and research in Canada.
Tove Mogstad Slinde
Senior Advisor @Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research in the Department of Early Childhood Education and Care
Our second speaker, Tove Mogstad Slinde will explore how the global COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the ECEC sector worldwide and specifically within Norway. She will discuss issues surrounding funding, access and engagement and will outline what is needed to ensure the future success of the ECEC sector. Tove Mogstad Slinde is a Senior Adviser in the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research in the Department of Kindergartens and Schools. From 2012 to 2018 she has been Chair of the Network on Early Childhood Education and Care in OECD. In the Ministry of Education and Research Tove Mogstad Slinde has been working on policy development on topics related to quality in ECEC. Since she entered the sector in 1987 she has among other things been working with governance and implementation of national policies on the regional and local levels.
